about

I am not 100% certain when this track came into existence. I think it may have come at the end of the era that I was writing for the doomed album "Sparkle Fountain", which means it was likely written at the very end of 2008.

That said, I tried to fit it into Take Control, because it didn't work on Sparkle Fountain. Originally, I wrote the lyrics to be about otaku sexualization of animated characters and escapism/rejection of reality, but the song never felt like that was what it was about, so I scrapped the recordings. At that time it was called 2D (after scrapping a completely nonsensical working title, in a similar style to Akm'Axl&Held.)

For Bad Happy, I tried to rewrite it with a bit of the foresty imagery that I always associated with the song, coupling it with some sad story about collecting rain water in a metal bucket (Rain Water Bucket) but that didn't work out either.

I have very strong memories of disappointment while recording this one. I'm happy to see it be put to rest.
