This is what I had recorded for the Take Control version. It's pretty rough.
I ended up deleting ALL of this, for some reason, which was very annoying when I tried to go back and finish it for Bad Happy.
I think I deleted it because there was too much clipping, but being so scorched earth about it was stupid, especially since some of the vocal tracks definitely made out okay.

In any case, this song is, as stated earlier, about my anxieties as a musician and performer.
To break it into it's key components:

1. The aesthetics and content that are commonly regarded as acceptable in any given music scene are arbitrary and defined by collective bias. There is a persistent fear of looking stupid or wrong in expressing excitement for the "wrong" thing (or anything) that creates anxiety about pursuing truly new sounds.

2. In electronic music, the means are often used to justify the ends, but that doesn't often provide something of artistic substance. At best, something that is not interesting to listen to will be impressive "for what it is" or will be a worthy intellectual exploration of process.

3. I got a lot of stand-offish responses at shows back then for being a "laptop artist"

each track uses the fact that its digital hardcore in its own unique way each time, rarely sounding similar to the other despite generally being noisy and in your face. i find this to be especially helped by Machine Girl's usage of unique samples or their own voices, which i can barely understand but honestly it really adds to the charm and aesthetic of this release. i know this album is 7 years old at the time of writing this, but it still holds up incredibly well.
